Privacy policy
Corfu Beaches (corfubeaches.com and the Android app) is a free beach guide. This page explains what data we collect, why, and how to delete it.
Using Corfu Beaches without an account
You can use the map, forecasts, beach pages and blog without signing in. We don't ask for your name or email address to do so.
Your location
If you tap the location button, your browser or phone asks for permission to share your location. It is used only on your device, to sort beaches by distance and estimate driving times, and is never sent to our servers.
Signing in
If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us. We store them, with a session cookie that keeps you signed in, so we can save your favourite beaches, link your crowd reports to your account and show you the getting-there guides.
If you sign in with an email link instead, we only get your email address. We use it to send you the link and nothing else: no newsletters, no marketing.
Crowd reports and favourites
When you report how busy a beach is, we store the beach, the crowd, parking and mobile signal level you chose, the time and your account. Reports improve the live crowd estimate for everyone and are never shown with your name.
Favourite beaches are stored with your account so they appear on every device you sign in on.
Contact form
Messages you send through the contact form are emailed to us with your name and email address so we can reply. They are not stored in our database.
Analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics only if you accept it in the cookie banner. Without your consent no analytics cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time with the cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.
Services we use
The site is hosted on Vercel, and account data is stored in a database with our hosting provider. Map tiles come from OpenFreeMap, weather from Open-Meteo and photos from Wikimedia Commons; these services see your IP address when your device loads their content. Google and Tripadvisor ratings are fetched by our server, and Tripadvisor's rating image is loaded from Tripadvisor.
We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.
Deleting your account
While signed in, open “My beaches” from the menu under your profile picture, expand “Your account” at the bottom of the page and choose “Delete account”, then confirm with your email address. This immediately and permanently deletes your account, your favourites and your crowd reports.
If you can no longer sign in, ask us through the contact page and we will delete your account and its data within 30 days.
Questions
If you have any questions about this policy or your data, write to us through the contact page.
