Where to Watch the Sunset on the Diapontia Islands
Othonoi is the westernmost point of Greece, and the Diapontia's west coasts look straight out over the open Ionian. That makes them some of the best places in the country to watch the sun go down.
Here's one spot on each island, all reachable on foot in the evening, so you don't need to keep a boat waiting.
1. Xylosermi

The cove of Xylosermi, on Othonoi's west coast, is itself one of the island's sunset spots, but you can only reach it by boat. The easier way to see it is from above: from the village of Chorio you can walk to the viewpoint locals call Iliovasilema, "Sunset".
From there you look down on the turquoise cove and out across open sea to the horizon.
Good to know: Bring a torch for the walk back to Chorio after dark.

On Ereikoussa, walk up from Porto through the village and follow the earth road west through olive groves and cypresses to Fyki, the old harbour near Cape Koukouli. Only part of the old breakwater is left.
The rest of the west coast is cliffs, so this is the easiest place on the island to watch the sun set over the sea, and an easy walk from the harbour.
Good to know: Stay off the broken breakwater; watch from the shore.

Mathraki's west coast is a large pebbled bay with rocks standing in the sea. You walk across the island from Plakes on the footpaths; it's under a kilometre, so allow about 15 minutes (our estimate).
The rocks in the bay make a good foreground for photos as the sun drops.
Good to know: Swim before sunset: the water is clean and the rocks are good for snorkelling on a calm evening.
