Alikes (Lefkimmi) beach guide
Alikes is a small beach near Lefkimmi in the south of Corfu, beside the old Lefkimmi salt pans, once the largest salt works on the island. Salt was harvested here from the 13th or 14th century until the works closed in 1988.
The salt pans and the small coastal lagoons are now a Natura 2000 protected wetland, and two Venetian salt warehouses have been restored. In recent years flamingos have spent the spring here; if you go to look, keep your distance and stay quiet.
