Ammos beach guide

Ammos is Othonoi's port and main village, on the south coast, and its beach of sand and shingle is right in front of it. The tavernas, cafés, rooms and the grocery are a few steps away, which makes it the easiest beach on the island and the place to wait for the boat.

Boats from Corfu arrive here: the ferry from Corfu Town calls at Ereikoussa and Mathraki on the way and takes three to four hours, while the caïques from Agios Stefanos and Sidari in the northwest of Corfu are much quicker. From Ammos, small boats go round to the beaches you can't walk to, such as Aspri Ammos.

About Ammos

Is Ammos a sandy beach?
Ammos has a mix of sand and pebbles. Facilities: taverna and family friendly.
Is it easy to park at Ammos?
Roadside parking. There's usually space, even in high season. You can drive right up to the beach.
When is Ammos least crowded?
It gets busy around midday in July and August; mornings and late afternoons are calmer. Outside June–September it's quiet all day.
Which wind is best for swimming at Ammos?
The beach faces south, so it's calmest when the wind blows from the north and gets waves when it blows from the south. It stays sheltered when the summer maistros (northwesterly) blows, which makes it a good choice on windy afternoons.
