Liapades beach guide

Liapades beach (also called Gefyra) sits at the end of the road below the village of Liapades, in a sheltered bay just south of Paleokastritsa. The shore is fine shingle and coarse sand, and the water is clear and gets deep fairly quickly, which is good for snorkelling.

There are sunbeds and umbrellas, a couple of beach bars and seaside tavernas. Boats, pedalos and water taxis can be hired here to explore the coves along the coast to the south, including Rovinia.

Liapades is about 21 km from Corfu Town, around 45 minutes by bus. Parking at the beach is limited, and there are a few steps down to the sand.

About Liapades

Is Liapades a sandy beach?
No, Liapades is a pebble beach, so water shoes are handy. Facilities: sunbeds, taverna, and snorkelling.
Is it easy to park at Liapades?
Paid parking. Spaces are limited and fill up early in summer, so arrive before 10:00 or come by scooter or bus. It's a 5 minute walk from the road.
When is Liapades least crowded?
It gets busy around midday in July and August; mornings and late afternoons are calmer. Outside June–September it's quiet all day.
Which wind is best for swimming at Liapades?
The beach faces northwest, so it's calmest when the wind blows from the southeast and gets waves when it blows from the northwest. The summer maistros, a northwesterly that picks up in the afternoon, often makes it choppy, so mornings are best.
