Porto beach guide
Porto is Ereikoussa's harbour and only real village, and its beach fills the bay between Cape Katergo and Cape Stamoleka on the south coast: a long sweep of golden sand with clear water. The island is green with olives, cypresses and the heather it's named after, and the hotel's restaurant and the village's tavernas and shops are a few metres from the sand.
The ferry from Corfu Town takes about two and a half hours; Ereikoussa is the first stop on the way to Mathraki and Othonoi, and only about eight nautical miles from Sidari on Corfu's north coast. Footpaths lead from Porto through the trees to the quieter beach at Bragini on the east side and to Fyki, the old harbour on the west.

About Porto
- Is Porto a sandy beach?
- Yes, Porto is a sandy beach. Facilities: taverna, family friendly, and natural shade.
- Is it easy to park at Porto?
- Roadside parking. There's usually space, even in high season. You can drive right up to the beach.
- When is Porto least crowded?
- It's one of the Diapontia Islands' most popular beaches: in July and August it's busiest from 12:00 to 16:00, so arrive before 10:00 or after 17:00. Outside June–September it's quiet all day.
- Which wind is best for swimming at Porto?
- The beach faces south, so it's calmest when the wind blows from the north and gets waves when it blows from the south. It stays sheltered when the summer maistros (northwesterly) blows, which makes it a good choice on windy afternoons.
