Halikounas beach guide
Halikounas is a long, wild sandy beach on the southwest coast, several kilometres long, on the strip of land between the sea and the Korission lagoon. The sand is fine and golden, and the water is shallow and clear.
It's part of the protected Natura 2000 area around the lagoon, an important wetland for birds. The steady wind makes it one of Corfu's best spots for kitesurfing and windsurfing, and there are schools and equipment hire on the beach.
Most of the beach is undeveloped; there's a beach bar and some sunbeds, and plenty of empty sand towards the ends.
