Messonghi beach guide

Messonghi is a village on the southeast coast, about 20 km south of Corfu Town, where the Messonghi river reaches the sea. The river separates it from Moraitika, and the two villages' beaches meet at the bridge.

The beach is a mix of sand and pebbles, and the sea deepens very gradually, so it's usually calm and shallow enough for young children. There are sunbeds, umbrellas and watersports, and tavernas and beach bars along the shore.

Messonghi is the quieter of the two villages; for livelier evenings, Moraitika is a short walk away.

About Messonghi

Is Messonghi a sandy beach?
Messonghi has a mix of sand and pebbles. Facilities: sunbeds, taverna, and family friendly.
Is it easy to park at Messonghi?
Roadside parking. Spaces fill up around midday in July and August. You can drive right up to the beach.
When is Messonghi least crowded?
It gets busy around midday in July and August; mornings and late afternoons are calmer. Outside June–September it's quiet all day.
Which wind is best for swimming at Messonghi?
The beach faces east, so it's calmest when the wind blows from the west and gets waves when it blows from the east. It stays sheltered when the summer maistros (northwesterly) blows, which makes it a good choice on windy afternoons.
