Moraitika beach guide

Moraitika is a long beach of sand and fine shingle on the east coast, in front of a busy resort that merges with Messonghi to the south. The sea is calm and gets deeper only very gradually, so it's a good choice for families with small children.

Sunbeds, umbrellas, tavernas and beach bars are just steps from the water, and there's a small wooden pier and watersports. Above the modern resort, the old village of Moraitika is worth a wander for its narrow lanes and tavernas.

Moraitika was awarded a Blue Flag in 2026. It's about 20 km south of Corfu Town, a 30–35 minute drive, and buses run along the coast to Benitses and Corfu Town.

About Moraitika

Is it easy to park at Moraitika?
Roadside parking. Spaces fill up around midday in July and August. You can drive right up to the beach.
When is Moraitika least crowded?
It gets busy around midday in July and August; mornings and late afternoons are calmer. Outside June–September it's quiet all day.
Which wind is best for swimming at Moraitika?
The beach faces east, so it's calmest when the wind blows from the west and gets waves when it blows from the east. It stays sheltered when the summer maistros (northwesterly) blows, which makes it a good choice on windy afternoons.
