Kanoni beach guide

Kanoni is the tip of the peninsula just south of Corfu Town, facing the islet monastery of Vlacherna and Pontikonisi (Mouse Island). The swimming here isn't a classic beach but a small pebble shore near the monastery, close enough to town to combine with sightseeing and a meal.

The shore isn't organised, but there are cafés and tavernas nearby, including one by Vlacherna. Kanoni was awarded a Blue Flag in 2026.

About Kanoni

Is Kanoni a sandy beach?
No, Kanoni is a swimming platform: you get in from the rocks or a ladder. Facilities: taverna.
Is it easy to park at Kanoni?
Roadside parking. Spaces are limited and fill up early in summer, so arrive before 10:00 or come by scooter or bus. It's a 5 minute walk from the road.
When is Kanoni least crowded?
It's rarely crowded, even in August. Outside June–September it's quiet all day.
Which wind is best for swimming at Kanoni?
The beach faces southeast, so it's calmest when the wind blows from the northwest and gets waves when it blows from the southeast. It stays sheltered when the summer maistros (northwesterly) blows, which makes it a good choice on windy afternoons.
