Mon Repos beach guide
Mon Repos beach is at the southern end of Garitsa Bay, a walk from the centre of Corfu Town, next to the wooded grounds of the Mon Repos estate. It's a small pebble beach with clear water and a relaxed, local feel.
The villa in the park was built in the 1820s and 1830s, and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, was born there. From the beach you can walk on into the park, past the ruins of ancient Corfu, down to the Kardaki spring.

About Mon Repos
- Is Mon Repos a sandy beach?
- Mon Repos has a mix of sand and pebbles. Facilities: sunbeds, taverna, and natural shade.
- Is it easy to park at Mon Repos?
- Paid parking. Spaces are limited and fill up early in summer, so arrive before 10:00 or come by scooter or bus. It's a 5 minute walk from the road.
- When is Mon Repos least crowded?
- It gets busy around midday in July and August; mornings and late afternoons are calmer. Outside June–September it's quiet all day.
- Which wind is best for swimming at Mon Repos?
- The beach faces east, so it's calmest when the wind blows from the west and gets waves when it blows from the east. It stays sheltered when the summer maistros (northwesterly) blows, which makes it a good choice on windy afternoons.
