Perama beach guide

Perama is a small resort on the east coast just south of Corfu Town, looking across to Pontikonisi (Mouse Island) and the Vlacherna monastery. It's one of the best spots to photograph them.

The shore is a string of small beaches of pebbles and some sand, with calm, clear water for swimming and snorkelling.

The Achilleion, the palace Empress Elisabeth of Austria built as her summer residence, is about 2 km up the hill.

About Perama

Is Perama a sandy beach?
No, Perama is a pebble beach, so water shoes are handy. Facilities: sunbeds and taverna.
Is it easy to park at Perama?
Roadside parking. Spaces are limited and fill up early in summer, so arrive before 10:00 or come by scooter or bus. It's a 2 minute walk from the road.
When is Perama least crowded?
It's rarely crowded, even in August. Outside June–September it's quiet all day.
Which wind is best for swimming at Perama?
The beach faces east, so it's calmest when the wind blows from the west and gets waves when it blows from the east. It stays sheltered when the summer maistros (northwesterly) blows, which makes it a good choice on windy afternoons.
