Megas Choros Beach
Long, lonely sandy beach on the southwest coast at the end of a steep, narrow track; it's a long walk unless you have an off-road buggy. Nothing to buy, and some August days you'll have it to yourself.

Megas Choros beach guide
Megas Choros is one of the largest beaches on Corfu's southwest coast, a wide stretch of sand just past the village of Kritika, about 41 km from Corfu Town. The water is clear and shallow.
There are no tourist facilities at all, so bring water, food and shade. That also keeps it peaceful, even in August.
The name means "great dance" or "great open space", and nobody is sure which. One local story says pirates danced here after raiding the villages; another links it to the old carnival custom in nearby Perivoli of lighting a fire on the beach and dancing around it.
