Ermones beach guide
Ermones is a small bay of gravel, pebbles and some sand on the west coast, surrounded by cliffs, with the little Ropa river reaching the sea in the middle. Local tradition says this is where Odysseus was washed ashore and met Princess Nausicaa, who was washing clothes at the river mouth.
The sea here is often lively, with waves. Most of the sunbeds and umbrellas belong to the hotel above the beach, and there are beach bars, tavernas and a diving school.
Ermones is about 16 km from Corfu Town, and buses run there from the town.

About Ermones
- Is Ermones a sandy beach?
- No, Ermones is a pebble beach, so water shoes are handy. Facilities: sunbeds, taverna, and watersports.
- Is it easy to park at Ermones?
- Roadside parking. Spaces fill up around midday in July and August. You can drive right up to the beach.
- When is Ermones least crowded?
- It gets busy around midday in July and August; mornings and late afternoons are calmer. Outside June–September it's quiet all day.
- Which wind is best for swimming at Ermones?
- The beach faces west, so it's calmest when the wind blows from the east and gets waves when it blows from the west. The summer maistros, a northwesterly that picks up in the afternoon, often makes it choppy, so mornings are best.
