Glyfada beach guide
Glyfada is one of the longest sandy beaches on Corfu's west coast: a wide sweep of fine golden sand under steep green hills, with a seabed that shelves gently. It was awarded a Blue Flag in 2026.
It's a fully organised beach, with rows of sunbeds and umbrellas, beach bars and watersports such as jet skis and parasailing. That also makes it one of the busiest beaches on the island, especially in August; Myrtiotissa, in the next bay to the north, is a much quieter alternative.
Glyfada is about 16 km from Corfu Town, via Pelekas, and the last stretch is a narrow, winding road down the hillside. Buses run from Corfu Town several times a day in summer. Facing west, it's a good spot for sunset.

About Glyfada

- Yes, Glyfada is a sandy beach. Facilities: sunbeds, taverna, watersports, and family friendly.

- Paid parking. Spaces fill up around midday in July and August. You can drive right up to the beach.
- When is Glyfada least crowded?
- It's one of Corfu's most popular beaches: in July and August it's busiest from 12:00 to 16:00, so arrive before 10:00 or after 17:00. Outside June–September it's quiet all day.
- Which wind is best for swimming at Glyfada?
- The beach faces west, so it's calmest when the wind blows from the east and gets waves when it blows from the west. The summer maistros, a northwesterly that picks up in the afternoon, often makes it choppy, so mornings are best.
