Porto Timoni beach guide

Porto Timoni is two small coves back to back on a narrow neck of land below the village of Afionas, on the northwest coast. Because the bays face different ways, the water in one is often a little cooler or choppier than in the other, and you can pick whichever is calmer that day.

There is no road down. The footpath from Afionas is roughly 1 km and takes 20–40 minutes, steep and stony in places, so wear proper shoes rather than flip-flops. A longer loop passes a viewpoint above both bays. The easier option is a water taxi or a hired boat from Agios Georgios Pagon, the long beach just south of the headland.

There's nothing on the beach: no bar, toilets or sunbeds, and very little shade. Bring water, food and sun protection. Park in Afionas (there's a paid car park and some street parking, which fills early) and try to arrive before 10:00 in summer.

About Porto Timoni

Is Porto Timoni a sandy beach?
Yes, Porto Timoni is a sandy beach. Facilities: snorkelling and unspoiled nature.
Is it easy to park at Porto Timoni?
Roadside parking. Spaces are limited and fill up early in summer, so arrive before 10:00 or come by scooter or bus. It's a 30 minute walk from the road, and the last stretch is a dirt track.
When is Porto Timoni least crowded?
It's one of Corfu's most popular beaches: in July and August it's busiest from 12:00 to 16:00, so arrive before 10:00 or after 17:00. Outside June–September it's quiet all day.
Which wind is best for swimming at Porto Timoni?
The beach faces west, so it's calmest when the wind blows from the east and gets waves when it blows from the west. The summer maistros, a northwesterly that picks up in the afternoon, often makes it choppy, so mornings are best.
