Gouvia beach guide
Gouvia sits on a wide, sheltered bay about 8 km north of Corfu Town. Its small beach is pebbles and coarse sand, with sunbeds and umbrellas for hire, watersports and boat trips.
The bay has been a harbour for centuries. Behind the modern marina, the largest on the island, stand the arches and columns of an 18th-century Venetian arsenal, where Venice kept its fleet. The ruins are fenced off but can be seen from outside.
Across the bay, on a small spit of the Kommeno peninsula, the little Ypapanti chapel is one of the most photographed sights on Corfu.

- Gouvia has a mix of sand and pebbles. Facilities: sunbeds, taverna, and family friendly.
- Is it easy to park at Gouvia?
- Free parking. Spaces fill up around midday in July and August. It's a 2 minute walk from the road.
- When is Gouvia least crowded?
- It gets busy around midday in July and August; mornings and late afternoons are calmer. Outside June–September it's quiet all day.
- Which wind is best for swimming at Gouvia?
